A fast-growing agriculture technology startup was looking to bring their innovative solutions to farmers in new markets across the Midwest. Before partnering with AgHires, their team had not yet hired a full-time salesperson in the region with an agriculture sales background. As a startup with ambitious goals and aggressive go-to-market strategies, building a strong sales team was critical to their growth and success.  

The company needed a recruitment partner who could match their rapid growth and adapt to their needs, while hiring candidates quickly in order to meet their organizational goals. 

In the current candidate market, being a startup also created a challenge to attract candidates who were looking for stability or were unfamiliar with the company’s product, mission, and potential. 

AgHires Approach & Solution 

After an in-depth meeting to learn more about our client’s challenges, ideal candidate, and where their company is headed, our team developed a tailored recruitment strategy. As it’s common for candidates to feel hesitant about joining startups, our team made an extra effort to learn as much as possible about the client’s product, growth plans, and vision — identifying their unique value proposition. Highlighting these items during our initial candidate interviews reduced candidates’ hesitation and enhanced their interest in the position, creating a larger talent pool.  

Our recruitment team met with the client routinely to push the process forward and continue refining our approach. We did this by discussing candidate profiles, sharing interview feedback, and providing market insights. We continued sourcing, interviewing, and submitting qualified talent until every opening was filled.  

Results 

Aligning with their rapid growth, AgHires successfully expanded the existing sales team by adding 11 new members, which included Regional Account Managers, Field Sales Representatives, and Territory Managers. AgHires has placed 12 candidates with the ag tech company to date, allowing them to expand their company footprint throughout the Midwest. 

The client was impressed with AgHires’ focus and ability to deliver high-quality candidates with the desired qualifications so quickly. The hired individuals were not only self-motivated and thrive in fast-paced environments, but were also strongly rooted in agriculture and had experience developing and managing sales territories.
