Interview Tips

Congratulations! You had a successful first interview and have now been called back for a second one. Take a moment to pat yourself on the back, because this is a big step in the right direction.

Tackling the first one is a huge step, and you can allow yourself to breathe a little now – but only a little. You have landed a second interview and that is great, but you don’t have the job secured just yet! Here are some helpful tips for a successful second interview.

Second Interview Checklist (compact)

Think about the good points during your first interview. What seemed to stand out or make you shine? What did the people seem to like about you? Focus on these things and work to make good moments happen even more in the second.

Make sure you prepare even more than you did for your first one. Before going into the first interview, you hopefully were well-researched about the job and company, but make sure to do even more before the second one. There is a good chance that the second interview will dive deeper into things, and you want to make sure you are prepared for this.

Be prepared to be interviewed by more than one person. Second interviews typically last longer, and often involve more than one person. Sometimes they will all interview you at once, and other times you will meet with several people one-on-one throughout the day.

Be ready to discuss salary and benefits. If the salary and benefits were not previously stated, there is a good chance that they will be brought up during the second interview. Go into the interview with an idea of what you plan to ask for, and be prepared to negotiate if necessary.
