The U.S. Department of Agriculture and related fields see substantial job openings, with a 2020-2025 report estimating over 100,000 annual openings for college graduates in food, agriculture, renewable natural resources, and environment.
The Farm Credit Foundation for Agricultural Advancement, founded in 2015, is helping build a lasting legacy for agriculture by supporting the next generation of industry professionals. In 2026, the Foundation is awarding at least $350,000 in scholarships, with individual awards valued up to $10,000, to students pursuing careers in agriculture within Horizon Farm Credit’s territory.
These scholarships highlight that agriculture is much more than farming. Career opportunities in the field are diverse, including roles such as agricultural scientists, veterinarians, teachers, loan officers, irrigation technicians, and more. Students may even receive this scholarship up to four times, providing continued support as they advance their education.
