Working From Home

Working from home, abbreviated WFH, has quickly become the new norm for many in agribusiness roles such as sales and marketing as well as agriculture suppliers and retailers. For some, this is the first experience working from home. It can be a daunting task to undertake unless you have the right tools. We’ve compiled tips and tricks to help you work from home.

Keep a routine and a schedule.

It can be easy to forgo your normal routine. After all, you’re at home. But keeping a morning routine creates consistency. When you went to work, you woke up, ate breakfast, and got dressed at the same time every day. Do this while you work from home. You’ll be more productive and can better plan your day.

Likewise, keep a daily schedule. Set your work hours for the day. During these hours, you are “at work” and shouldn’t worry about other tasks. Set some time aside for breaks, too. Breaks help prevent burnout and will save your health – both mentally and physically. Click here to learn how to avoid burnout and get ideas for breaks.

Take time to set up a dedicated workspace.

At your place of work, you have a dedicated workspace. It could be a workshop or a desk and a computer. You have an assigned place to do your work.

Create a space like this at home. Have one place to do your work. You’ll associate work with that space. This will prevent you from working just anywhere in the house and will prevent your work life bleeding into your personal life.

Set your goals.

Set daily goals. What are the top three things you need to accomplish for the day? Daily goals keep you on track. See how to set goals here.

Practice self-care.

Working from home can be fun. You can set your own hours, you have access to all the good snacks, and you have no commute. But working from home can also take its toll – mentally, physically, and emotionally. This is why self-care is so important.

Make sure you exercise and eat healthy. Sitting in the same place and snacking all day can hurt your health in the long run. You won’t feel good, even if you were very productive.

Make sure you get out of the house. Looking at the same scenery every day is monotonous; there’s no new visual stimuli. Take a walk at a park or even down the street. Fresh air can be a great mood-lifter.

As working from home becomes the new norm, keep these tips and tricks in mind.
